There are going to be a lot of post-mortems written about the Phillies’ 2024 season in the coming days, and a lot of blame will be thrown around. While the offense deserves a hefty share of blame in both game four and the series as a whole, the biggest reason for the Phillies season ending in the NLDS is that the bullpen was an outright disaster throughout the series.
Given a 1-0 lead on Wednesday evening, the bullpen had a chance to redeem itself. Instead, they failed one more time. This time the culprits were Jeff Hoffman who loaded the bases and Carlos Estevez who allowed Francisco Lindor to unload them.
