The Dirty Inning: We all go a little Madson sometimes

We all have off days.

Ryan Madson burned through the ranks of the Phillies farm system, his massive height and searing fastball drawing comparisons between him and Randy Johnson (seriously). He would go on to a long career of late inning relief, numerous playoff appearances, and not quite being Randy Johnson, but on May 14, 2005, Madson was brought into a game to protect the Phillies’ slim lead against Ken Griffey, Jr. and the Reds. Things didn’t quite go according to plan. Unless the plan was, “lose horribly.”

Join Justin and Trev as they journey back to Philadelphia in 2005, marvel at a city on the rise, and watch the Phillies lose in truly catastrophic fashion.
