The legend of Tyler Phillips as a “stopper” came to an ignominious screeching halt as the Philadelphia Phillies’ (65-44) struggles followed them to the left coast in a 10-2 thrashing at the hands of the Seattle Mariners (58-53) in game one of the weekend series.
Phillips (3-1) saw his 15 inning scoreless streak end abruptly on a first pitch home run by Mariners’ center fielder, Victor Robles, to set the tone for the Mariners’ offense.
Victor Robles, first pitch and upper deck. Wow.
