The Philadelphia Phillies (91-60) added to their MLB best record with a 5-1 win over their Wild Card bye competitors, the Milwaukee Brewers (87-64), on Tuesday night.
The Phil’s have now passed their win total from last season and their most in a season since the 2008-2011 run.
Zack Wheeler (16-6) was as hyperbolically good as he has been all season, going seven innings for the 11th time in his 30 outings and recording six strikeouts for the 23rd time. The Braves’ Chris Sale remains the NL Cy Young frontrunner, but Wheeler is a close second.
