Each season, teams go through the entire contents of their 40-man roster and then some. The MLB schedule is a tremendous grind and the way the Phillies’ training staff (and Rob Thomson) operate, minor injuries are given time to rest and recover. That means the players that are at the bottom of that 40-man roster, and even some that are in the minor leagues, are going to get used often.
Of late, there have been heroics from the offensive side of that part of the roster with Buddy Kennedy and Cal Stevenson coming to mind to help put the team in front in games in which the straits were dire.
