When Aaron Altherr returned to the majors less than five months removed from major wrist surgery, the Phillies did not expect an immediate duplication of his slugging barrage that opened eyes late last season. And they have not seen that in Altherr's first three weeks.
But the 25-year-old outfielder has not resembled a hitter affected by the wrist. No, he has not matched his slugging rate from 2015. But Altherr has started in every single Phillies game (17 total) since he was activated from the disabled list July 28.
"He hits a lot of extra-base hits," Phillies manager Pete Mackanin said.
