Beloved Phillies radio play-by-play man Scott Franzke is coming back for at least one more year on the broadcast team. He signed a one-year contract extension during the offseason, according to Scott Lauber of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Franzke’s five-year contract he signed in November 2016 expired at the end of last season.
Phillies executive vice president Dave Buck told Lauber that the Phillies “hope to discuss a longer-term deal with Franzke later this year.”
Franzke, 49, is entering his 16th full season as the Phillies’ radio play-by-play man. He joined the team in 2006 as a pre- and postgame host and play-by-play man for the middle innings.
