PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Phillies radio announcer Scott Franzke assessed the team’s trade of Cole Hamels to the Texas Rangers in a deal that involved pitcher Jake Diekman in exchange for pitcher Matt Harrison and five prospects.
Franzke told Chris Stigall on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT that, all things considered, they maxed out Hamels’ value.
“When I heard about all the guys that we’re getting back and the full scope of the deal, I thought to myself, I don’t see how the Phillies could’ve done any better in the situation that they are in.”
He said there is a reasonable expectation that every player acquired will eventually appear on the Major League roster.
