Schwarber Hits 3-Run HR, Harper-Less Phils Beat Padres 8-5

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Kyle Schwarber hit a go-ahead, three-run home run in the seventh inning and the Philadelphia Phillies rallied to beat the San Diego Padres 8-5 on Sunday, a day after losing NL MVP Bryce Harper indefinitely with a broken left thumb.

Harper was injured when he was hit by a pitch from left-hander Blake Snell in Philadelphia’s 4-2 win on Saturday night. The slugger, who has had a great season while playing mostly at designated hitter because of an elbow injury, is expected to see a specialist after the Phillies return home.
