The lineup the Phillies used for their Thursday night game in San Francisco didn’t seem especially intimidating. With Roman Quinn, Sean Rodriguez, and Andrew Knapp scheduled to start, it figured that the Phillies might have some trouble scoring runs. That turned out to be an understatement.

The Indians at least managed to somehow score a run, something the Phillies didn’t come particularly close to doing. Madison Bumgarner allowed just one hit and one walk in his seven innings, and the Phillies managed just one base runner against the Giants’ bullpen in the eighth and ninth.
