During Monday afternoon, the news was released via Bruce Levine of WSCR-AM that the Phillies and Cubs have previously been engaged in trade talks. Both ball clubs have shown mutual interest regarding the stellar third baseman, Kris Bryant, but nothing as of late has come about.
However, it is notable that Bryant and the Cubs are struggling over Bryant’s grievance. The arbitrator “has to decide whether he’s a free agent in one year or two, and that decision could still be several weeks away,” according to Jon Heyman.
