Rumor Central: Royals mull adding corner OF bat, but starting pitcher a priority

The Kansas City Royals are thinking about acquiring a corner outfield bat for a "stretch run." But adding a starting pitcher is their top priority, according to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick.

Crasnick mentions the Philadelphia Phillies' Howie Kendrick plus Melky Cabrera of the Chicago White Sox as possibilities for outfielders.

Entering Friday, Kendrick, 34, is slashing .340/.397/.454 with two home runs and 16 RBIs in 39 games this season. The 32-year-old Cabrera has a slash line of .289/.331/.430 with 13 home runs and 56 RBIs over 96 games.
