The Fightin’ Phils showed up on a rainy night at Citizens Bank Park, using the longball to rally from a 4-1 deficit to tie the game late, and then a walkoff hit from Darin Ruf in the bottom of the 9th to register a 5-4 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.
Closer Jonathan Papelbon (1-0) picked up his first win of the season after pitching a perfect top of the 9th, including striking out a pair of batters in what continues to be an excellent season from the man whose time appears to be running out in Phillies pinstripes.
