This is surprising — to go from GM to first base coach. Can’t say I can recall such a stark change in job titles before, though Miami Marlins GM Dan Jennings took over as the club’s manager following Mike Redmond’s dismisal earlier this year.
The MLB playoffs will kick off on Tuesday with the Yankees hosting the Astros in the American League Wild Card game.
