PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Former Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. will reportedly become the next first-base coach of the Boston Red Sox, according to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.

Amaro, 50, became the Phillies’ GM after the team won the World Series in 2008 and was fired in September, as the team suffered a quick downfall under his management.
Amaro played in the MLB for eight years as an outfield with three different teams, including the Phillies (1992-93, 1996-98).
