With the World Series still going on, major-league free agency hasn’t opened. But clubs can sign players to minor-league contracts. According to Matt Gelb of The Athletic, the Phillies have done just that by signing right-handed reliever Cody Stashak to a minor-league deal.
Stashak, a 30-year-old from Somers Point, NJ, spent 2024 with the Sacramento River Cats, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. He appeared in 27 games for the River Cats, pitching 36 1/3 innings with a 5.45 ERA. Stashak struck out 44 hitters and walked 12. The righty relies on a low 90s fastball and low 80s slider.
