The Phillies are starting to make a habit of this winning thing, breaking out their red-hot bats once again tonight at Citizens Bank Park for a 9-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves.
It was the Phils 11th win in 13 games going back to the MLB All-Star break two weeks ago, and coupled with yet another loss by the Miami Marlins, lowers the Phillies “lead”, as it were, in the race for baseball’s worst record and the first overall pick in next year’s Amateur Draft to 2.5 games over the falling Fish.
The Phillies jumped all over rookie Braves starter Williams Perez right from the start, scoring a season-best four 1st inning runs.
