Rays use longball to beat Phillies 6-1

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Logan Forsythe, Steve Pearce, Richie Shaffer and Mikie Mahtook hit homers to lead the Tampa Bay Rays to a 6-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday.

Rays third baseman Evan Longoria left the game with a left shin contusion after hitting a foul ball off his foot in the first inning. His status wasn't immediately known.

Tampa's Matt Moore struck out eight in 4 2/3 innings. The lefty allowed one run and five hits.

Phillies righty Vince Velasquez fanned seven and allowed one run in five innings, increasing his chances of winning the fifth starter's job.
