Since coming on board as Phillies team president and head of baseball operations in December of 2020, Dave Dombrowski has been one of the busier men in baseball.
He spent much of his first year with Philadelphia learning about the organization, attempting to fix a farm system that saw player development and scouting on completely different pages, a front office that didn’t seem to know what they were doing with analytics and implementation, and watching manager Joe Girardi and general manager Matt Klentak make decisions.
Once acclimated, Dombrowski got to work. He’s made some large free agent deals with Kyle Schwarber, Nick Castellanos and Trea Turner, signed Aaron Nola to a long-term deal when he hit free agency and locked in a contract extension with Zack Wheeler.
