We haven’t seen or heard much from Sam Fuld, the team’s general manager, in quite a while. He was never the face of the front office of course with Dave Dombrowski the ultimate decision maker, but now we know why we haven’t heard much from Fuld.

Fuld is going to finish off his master’s degree at the Wharton School with the idea that he’ll be in charge of the team’s business operations when he’s done in 2026. Doing so means the team moves Preston Mattingly to the GM spot, up from his director of player personnel position he’s occupied for some time.
