Pirates edge Phillies 4-3

PHILADELPHIA — Jerome Williams allowed just two free passes over his last two starts and didn't walk more than two in any of his first six outings.

In his seventh start of the season Monday, he walked two in the third inning and both scored on a three-run home run by Starling Marte, which propelled the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 4-3 win as they opened a four-game series with the Phillies.

Williams walked the second batter of the inning, Gregory Polanco, and then issued a two-out walk to Andrew McCutchen before facing Marte.
