The Philadelphia Phillies returned to Citizens Bank Park looking to get back on track following a disappointing weekend in Miami. Jason Vargas got the ball against the Pittsburgh Pirates and was dealing through six innings, but couldn’t get an out in the seventh, which eventually led to four runs against.
The Phils’ offense was paced by Brad Miller, who crushed a two-run home run to left center and clutch home runs in the eighth inning by new-Dad, Bryce Harper and Corey Dickerson. The game would go to extra innings and the Phillies would win it on a walk-off home run by Sean Rodriguez.
