PHOENIX - Cameron Rupp, not known for boasting a power bat, has slugged a home run in three of his last six starts. The last two proved crucial in Phillies wins.
A three-run shot by Rupp helped the Phillies avoid being swept with a 7-6 win against the Arizona Diamondbacks Wednesday at Chase Field. The opposite-field homer off lefthander Keith Hessler broke a tie in a four-run sixth inning that matched the team's offensive output over the first two games of the series.
Ken Giles shut the door with his seventh save in as many opportunities, this one of the four-out variety.
