The Phillies have hired former Twins general manager Terry Ryan to serve as a special assignment scout, the club announced on Wednesday.
Ryan, 63, helped build a Minnesota club that captured four American League Central titles during two stints as GM, from 1994-2007 and 2012-16. He was also twice named Sporting News Executive of the Year. The Twins dismissed Ryan in July amid a last-place season.
"I have known Terry for more than a decade and have enormous respect for all that he accomplished during his tenure with the Twins," Phillies general manager Matt Klentak stated in an official release.
