Phillippe Aumont Gets The Call As Phillies Open Series With Cardinals

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The Phillies will give the ball to Phillippe Aumont tonight as they open a weekend series with the St. Louis Cardinals at Citizens Bank Park.

Aumont is stepping in for Cole Hamels who was scratched because of a hamstring issue. The 26-year-old right-hander was acquired by the Phillies in the infamous 2009 Cliff Lee trade with Seattle. He pitched in 45 games out of the bullpen for the Phillies from 2012-2014, going 1-5 with a couple of saves and a 6.19 ERA. In 39.2 innings at the Major League level, Aumont has allowed 48 hits and 27 walks while striking out 39 batters.
