Phillies trade Minors reliever Cordero to Nats

The Phillies traded right-hander Jimmy Cordero to the Nationals on Wednesday for a player to be named.

Cordero, 25, was designated for assignment on Friday. He was ranked as the Phillies' 25th-best prospect by MLBPipeline.com.

Cordero went 10-12 with a 3.80 ERA in 115 Minor League appearances over five seasons. He was initially acquired by Philadelphia in the 2015 trade that sent outfielder Ben Revere to Toronto.
