Phillies Thomas Eshelman: Prospect No One is Talking About

When the Phillies traded away closer Ken Giles, most fans focused on the top overall pick in the 2013 MLB Amateur Draft, pitcher Mark Appel, as well as fireballer Vincent Velasquez.

Both of those talented arms were considered as being close to the majors and quite toolsy pitchers. Fangraphs ranked the two as the No. 2 and 3 prospects in the Astros system, respectively, prior to the 2015 season.

One player coming as part of that Giles package seems to have flown under the radar, right-handed pitcher Thomas Eshelman.
