Jeremy Hellickson cruised through the first five innings of his start Sunday, allowing just two Washington runners on base. But his fine afternoon was interrupted by a cramp.
Hellickson, who hit a key groundout in the top of the fifth, could not finish his warm-up tosses in the bottom of the fifth. An umpire called for the Phillies' athletic trainer. After a brief examination, Hellickson left the game.
The Phillies said Hellickson suffered a right forearm cramp.
The veteran righthander has a 0.90 ERA in his first two outings, each of which lasted five innings.
It is not the first time Hellickson, 30, was sidelined while with the Phillies.
