The Phillies have reportedly signed former St. Louis Cardinals and San Diego Padres infielder Greg Garcia to a minor-league deal, according to Bryce Miller of the San Diego Union-Tribune. He’ll report to the team’s alternate site in Lehigh Valley and has the ability to opt-out of the deal on May 2.
Garcia, 31, spent the last two seasons with the Padres, slashing .240/.351/.337 with four home runs and 42 RBIs. He was non-tendered by San Diego in the offseason and signed a minor-league deal with Detroit, but failed to make the team after a rough spring at the plate.
