PHILADELPHIA -- The Phillies like the early returns of their 2015 Draft.
Top pick Cornelius Randolph has played well with the rookie-level Gulf Coast League Phillies. Other players selected in the top 10 have fared well, too. Overall, the Phillies signed 31 of 40 selections, and their top 24 selections overall.
Friday was Major League Baseball's deadline for teams to sign their Draft picks. UNLV senior pitcher Joey Lauria, whom the Phillies selected 25th overall, was the highest pick not to sign. The Phillies offered him $1,000, but the Las Vegas Review Journal reported Lauria decided to stay at UNLV and work as a graduate assistant on the baseball team.
