Phillies rumor: Club finalizes trade with the Tampa Bay Rays

The Phillies completed a minor league transaction Friday morning, trading IronPigs utility player Taylor Featherston to the Tampa Bay Rays.

Philadelphia will receive cash considerations in return according to multiple reports.

Tampa Bay’s acquisition of Featherston comes hours after learning outfielder Kevin Kiermaier suffered a fracture in his hip.

The move could potentially open a role for the streaking hot Scott Kingery in Lehigh Valley to start at second base. Should Kingery be promoted to play second base, veteran infielder Pedro Florimon would assume Featherston’s role at third.
