With less than four weeks remaining to Opening Day, two of the Phillies’ three biggest spring roster battles are even murkier now than they were when camp opened. The fifth starter spot is playing out about as expected with Brett Oberholtzer and Vince “Don’t call me Vincent” Velasquez both making strong cases for themselves and Adam Morgan turning in an impressive “don’t forget about me” outing today allowing just one hit, one walk and no runs in three innings of work against the Pirates. The situations in the outfield and bullpen, however, have grown increasingly unsettled.
