The Philadelphia Phillies released veteran Ronald Torreyes from the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
The minor-league infielder requested the move and it was granted by the team, as reported by The Athletic‘s Matt Gelb.
Torreyes started the 2022 season in Triple-A Lehigh Valley after spending parts of the previous two years in the majors with the Phillies. He was batting .171 through 10 games with the IronPigs.
Last season, the former New York Yankee was thrust into a more regular role after third baseman Alec Bohm and shortstop Didi Gregorius faced struggles and injury.
