Phillies recall Cody Asche from IronPigs, designate Grady Sizemore for assignment

When Cody Asche was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley May 11, nobody knew how long he’d be with the IronPigs learning left field.

The only thing that was for sure is that the former third baseman had to stay there for at least 10 days.

He only stayed there for about a week longer than he had to.

Friday morning, as the Phillies prepared to begin a nine-game homestand, the team recalled Asche from Lehigh Valley. The Phillies will make a corresponding move before Friday’s 7:05 p.m. game.

Asche played 15 games with the IronPigs during his recent minor league stint and had one error in 24 total chances in left field.
