PHILADELPHIA — News of a deal sending Cole Hamels, Jake Diekman and cash to the Rangers for five prospects and right-hander Matt Harrison broke late Wednesday night, but when the Phillies' clubhouse opened Thursday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park, Hamels and Diekman still had a locker.
Thursday came and went without the deal becoming official as medical reports and other details were being ironed out. Nothing is expected to derail the agreement.
"I know nothing," interim manager Pete Mackanin said before Thursday's game. when asked about Friday's starting pitcher, who was supposed to be Hamels. "Everything's TBA.
