PHILADELPHIA -- The Phillies could be headed to a salary arbitration hearing in the near future with ace Aaron Nola.
The Phillies and Nola could not reach an agreement on a 2019 contract before Friday's 1 p.m. ET deadline. It is unclear how far apart the Phillies and Nola were to an agreement and if they will still work to reach one before a hearing.
The Phillies memorably could not reach an agreement with Ryan Howard, who won $10 million in arbitration in 2008. A couple of years later, Howard signed a $125 million contract extension.
