An old friend is set to return to the Philadelphia Phillies organization.
The team purchased the contract of first baseman Brock Stassi, a member of the 2017 Phillies, on Monday, according to the president of Stassi’s former club in the Atlantic League.
“Brock has been to the game’s highest level with the Phillies and now has another chance to get back to the Major Leagues,” Long Island Ducks president and general manager Michael Pfaff said Tuesday in a statement. “We wish him all the best with the Phillies organization.”
The 31-year-old Stassi went 9-for-47 in 14 games for the Ducks before getting the chance to play for the organization that gave him his first and only opportunity in the majors to date once again.
