Injuries in spring training are never the way to start a season, especially if you are a young player looking to prove yourself early. Injuries this at the beginning of the year can completely derail an entire season, and possibly a career.
Hopefully, that will not be the case for Phils prospect Victor Arano, as he was shut down for approximately one month with an elbow sprain.
Jim Salisbury reports that Arano received a PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injection in his pitching elbow after suffering the injury this week.
The 21-year-old reliever made significant strides last season in Single-A Clearwater and Double-A Reading.
