Phillies top prospect J.P. Crawford was removed from the Arizona Fall League after only five games.
The team has not offered a reason for Crawford's exit, but CSNPhilly.com reported that the 20-year-old shortstop suffered a slight tear in his thumb ligament. The report indicated that Crawford will not require surgery and is expected to be fine for spring training.
Crawford struggled at the plate during his short Arizona stint, managing only three hits - each singles - over 20 at-bats with six strikeouts and two walks. Fatigue could have played a factor in his results. His second full professional season didn't end until Sept.
