PHILADELPHIA -- Right-hander Sean O'Sullivan lasted just two starts as the Phillies' No. 5 starter.
The Phillies on Wednesday placed him on the 15-day disabled list with tendinitis in his left knee. They recalled right-hander Hector Neris from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to take O'Sullivan's place on the active roster, and they announced right-hander Dustin McGowan will start in O'Sullivan's place Thursday afternoon against the Marlins.
O'Sullivan went 0-1 and allowed six earned runs in 11 innings during his two starts.
McGowan has gone 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA in seven innings over five relief appearances.
