PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — On Monday night, the Phillies took the night off from the diamond and raised money for a great cause. The team held the Phillies Phestival which benefited ALS patients. The Phillies adopted ALS as their primary charitable cause in 1984.
The Phillies have raised over $16 million since 1984 for ALS.
Monday’s festival, held at Citizens Bank Park, raised a total of $786,146 for ALS patients. The annual autograph and auction party helps to raise money to help those receiving patient care and services for ALS in the Philadelphia area.
ALS patients were on hand for Monday night’s event to enjoy the festivities and to meet the players.
