PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The Phillies announced on Wednesday that they were optioning RHP David Buchanan to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The move comes the day after a rough start for Buchanan.
On Tuesday night, the Phillies lost to the Diamondbacks 13-1. Buchanan had a night to forget as he gave up 11 earned runs in just 1 2/3 innings.
Buchanan allowed the first six Arizona hitters to reach base to open the second inning. The inning included five singles, three doubles, two home runs, one grand slam and two walks.
He only earned two outs in that inning.
