SAN DIEGO - On the last day that Adam Loewen had played in the major leagues, the Phillies won their 102d game of the 2011 season.
The last time Loewen had pitched in the major leagues, Randy Johnson and Greg Maddux were still part of big-league rotations.
But there was the 6-foot-6 lefthander on Friday afternoon at Petco Park, settling into a locker stall in the visitors clubhouse. A circuitous route back to the majors surely made the call the 30-year-old Canadian received on Thursday from the Phillies all the more rewarding.
"It's been a roller coaster of emotions from year to year," Loewen said.
