3-5, fifth in International League North
Severino Gonzalez, who made a cameo in major-league spring training, had a disappointing outing after opening the season on a positive note. The righthander allowed 10 hits and five runs over five innings in Thursday's 5-1 loss to Buffalo. Gonzalez, 22, received a no-decision in his first start on April 11, when he allowed one earned run on four hits in 62/3 innings. Catcher Tommy Joseph has struggled at the plate. The 23-year-old has three hits in 22 at-bats. He can be the Phillies' catcher of the future if he is able to prove this season that he can hit and stay healthy.
