The Phillies lost another starting pitcher Tuesday when righthander Jerad Eickhoff was placed on the 10-day disabled list with what the team described as an upper back injury.
Eickhoff, whose fastball velocity was down in his last start against Arizona, said he could miss just one turn through the rotation.
The Phillies have not yet announced a starter for Friday’s game. It could be Mark Leiter Jr. or Tom Eshelman, based on how the triple-A Lehigh Valley rotation aligns.
Brock Stassi replaced Eickhoff on the active roster. With Eickhoff sidelined, four-fifths of the season’s opening rotation has spent time on the DL.
