PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The Phillies will be back home tonight to host the Atlanta Braves in the opener of a four-game series, but the game takes a back seat to the big deal the Phils put together late last night.
The Phillies reportedly sent LHP Cole Hamels and LHP Jake Diekman to the Texas Rangers. In return they get LHP Matt Harrison, who has battled back issues for the last few years, and five prospects.
It would appear to be a very good group of young players the Phils are getting that they can plug into their system in OF Nick Williams, C Jorge Alfaro and RHPs Alec Asher, Jake Thompson and Jerad Eickhoff.
