Today marks one year since the Phillies and baseball community lost Roy Halladay. The former ace was only 40 years old and had retired only four years prior to his tragic plane accident when his plane was found off the coast of St. Petersburg.
The Phillies did not get the majority of Halladay’s career but they sure did get the prime of it. Following a 2009 World Series loss Ruben Amaro and the front office went all in on acquiring the 2003 AL Cy Young winner. They shipped Travis d’Arnaud, Kyle Drabek and Michael Taylor off to Toronto in exchange for Halladay.
