According to Matt Gelb of The Athletic, the Phillies have hired Bryan Price as their next pitching coach. Gelb reported that Price had turned down offers from San Diego and Arizona.
Price formerly managed the Reds and has a long track record of success as a pitching coach. Just 24 hours ago, Jim Salisbury stated that new Phillies’ Skipper, Joe Girardi, had Price pegged as his top pick.
The 57-year-old Californian managed the Reds from 2014-2018. He previously was the pitching coach for the Marlins, D-backs and the Reds. Price will be the third manager in as many years.
