BALTIMORE - You probably don't have to look far beyond the place in the lineup where a team's best hitter resides to diagnosis the biggest problem with the Phillies' offense.
The team's three-hole hitters entered yesterday with a .563 OPS, worst in baseball.
You could multiply that number by two and still be below the three-hole hitters of the top-ranked Arizona Diamondbacks. It's lower than Steve Jeltz' career OPS (.576).
But digging into Chase Utley's dreadful season is the equivalent of spinning a broken record. You've heard it enough already, it doesn't sound good, and it's unlikely to get much better.
