Phillies fire hitting coach John Mallee, replace him with Charlie Manuel

According to Todd Zolecki of MLB.com, Charlie Manuel, the winningest manager in franchise history, is taking over as the team’s hitting coach, as they have fired John Mallee.

Manuel, presided over the most successful era in franchise history, as the Phillies won five consecutive National League East titles between 2007 and 2011, including winning the 2008 World Series. In total, he was the Phillies manager from 2005 until being fired in August of 2013. His record as Phillies skipper was 780-636. He was inducted onto the Phillies Wall of Fame in 2014.
